Live a Creative Life

A space of inspired works of all sorts. A place to share new ideas, practice techniques and try new recipes. Pretty much a little bit of whatever is going on. Stay Tuned!

Peanut Butter Bars

3 Cups of chopped dates or a mix of raisins and dates.

Soak them in water to soften if they are hard, makes them easier to puree.

Put them in the food processor after about 15 minutes of soaking and drained.

Add 1 cup of nut butter, natural and with the oil drained.

Add one cup total of 3/4c gluten free or regular oats, and 1/4 mixed seeds.

I used pumpkin and sunflower.

That's it.

Once they are all mixed together, press into a 7X11 pan, ungreased. press down with a piece of wax paper or parchment until they are dispersed and firm.
Let them chill in the frig for an hour or more.
Cut into 15 squares.

Kombucha Explorations

The first time I tried Kombucha Tea I shook the bottle before I opened it. AHHH! Not a good idea considering it's carbonated and of course I did not realize that until it was too late. Oh well, lived and learned.
So of course, true to form, I can not just drink the tea and have the experience, I have to learn how to create this concoction and off I went..
Blog hunting and searching out the possible death toll on making and drinking something poisonous! Could it actually be done? What would I need?
Well, I figured all of that out in one evening and the next day proceeded to acquire all of the tools necessary along with an amazing tutorial within this amazing blog/website and I was hooked!

It's been about four months now since I began and I think I've finally nailed it! I'm still alive, bonus! Hubby is an avid beer brewer and has found great enjoyment watching my process as well as being my taste taster from the beginning. I've shared my tea with friends and family and they were skeptical at first. Understandably so with the tendrils of scoby hanging down in the brew, floaties all over the place in their wine glasses that I insist on serving it in, all the while being encouraged to "just drink it", by this smiling maker excited to see their reaction. The reaction is always the best! That concern and apprehension turns to a pleasant change in their faces immediately and they can't believe that this is tea! Score!
There will be more Kombucha adventures in the future as it has become a mainstay in our home now. Here's a few pictures from yesterdays cauldron activity, wish you could taste it!
